One way to tell the quality of a bike shop – the Fargo test

Oct 7, 2013 ·

I bought my first real mountain bike, a Fisher CR-7, from Harlan Krueger at Spoke and Sport way back in 1989. I eventually cracked the frame on that bike, but I’m still riding mountain bikes, and Harlan is still selling bikes, although the shop is now called Harlan’s Bike & Tour. My dad and I stopped in to see Harlan this past week on our way through Sioux Falls. He wasn’t there but we looked around the shop, talked to some folks, and snapped a few photos. I was seriously impressed that they are stocking five Salsa Fargos in the shop, and one of those was decked out with Revelate bags. To top it off, they also have a Fargo Ti on order, in my size even. Now that, in my opinion, is the sign of a great bike shop!
