I hadn’t planned on it, but I visited Dead Horse Point State Park today on a recommendation from my friend Daryl Peters, and the park was pretty good.
Canyonlands National Park was okay, but too many people. I talked with Rick, a biker from Oregon, for a while about where we’ve ridden and what’s next. I also learned that I’ve been pronouncing the Wallowa Mountains incorrectly for many years.
After Canyonlands I passed through Moab, and am now convinced that Moab is getting way too commercialized for my taste.
The ride from Moab through the La Sal mountains into Colorado was a very nice ride.
I’m now camping a few miles outside of Ouray, Colorado.
The plan for tomorrow is currently a 490-mile, 10.5 hour route running diagonally across Colorado. There’s only 12 hours of daylight, so that’s cutting it really close.
